Together we make the Calçotada Festival great
All of us who are part of the companies in Grup Andreu industrial projects, In one way or another we are involved in our local festivals and celebrations, of all kinds and all specialties. As we are also in the The Calçotada Festival is great. It is for this reason that we have thought it appropriate to explain a little, to our clients and friends, how it all works.
The The Great Calçotada Festival is the most important gastronomic event in Catalonia. To give just some example data, we will say that: that day More than 60,000 calçots are cooked live, among those who organize and those provided by collaborating restaurants of the Great Festival, for the tasting bags.
Despite the incidents in the commuter service, the closure of the AP7 and the rain the previous day, they have come to Valls more than 35,000 people (more or less like every year). The majority came from Alt Camp, Camp de Tarragona and the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, but there were also international attendees from countries such as Japan, Germany, France, Russia, Bulgaria, China, Korea and the United States, as well as from various parts of Spain.
The day before they prepared close to 4,000 bags for tastings. Inside each bag, the volunteers put: a terrine with sauce Fruit Sauces, a wine bottle opener, a 470g bag of Maestra d'’Europastry, a cloth bib, an orange, a bottle of water, napkins, artisanal bakery cookies Cal Cesc and a 2×1 ticket to enter the Castellar Museum of Catalonia. On the same day of the party, starting at 11 am, the volunteers began distributing the 4,000 tastings adding 12 calçots to each bag IGP Calçot de Valls, freshly baked, and a 750 cc bottle of wine Black Sunset by Domenio. Calculate the team of volunteers needed to give 4,000 tastings in two or three hours.
The tasting area, located in the parking lot of the Agricultural Cooperative, was prepared more than 5,000 m², with tables, embers, grills, bar service and live music. Another team took care of it with the people of the Agricultural Cooperative, from the IGP Calçot de Valls, from the Municipal Brigade of the Valls City Council (when they have suffered bravely with the banners of the Festival and the gale that has accompanied us)
Within the team of volunteers, made up of people from the Tickling Gang, the INTRESS Foundation which manages a center in Pla de Santa Maria, the team Lerus Team, the anonymous volunteers who come to help every year, the entire team of the Valls Chamber of Commerce and a good part of the members of the Chamber of Deputies and their families who will be collaborating. When a list is made, there is a risk of leaving someone out; it is no excuse, if necessary we will modify it, this is the internet, but for fear of leaving someone out we cannot stop thanking everyone who was there.
Throughout the day, streets and squares hosted demonstrations of cooking calçots on the grill (another team of volunteers), competitions (with more volunteers collaborating), parades with the Union of Rings of the Flame i la Valls's Pissigolla Group, the castles in the Patio with the Old Gang i la Young People's Group of the Children of Valls; gastronomic tastings of Calçotada organized by Alt Camp Restorers' Guild, the wine space of the DO Tarragona with various stands, and the Calçotada Market in Plaça dels Quarters. Behind all of this there is a tremendous amount of people who make it possible.
The city has been open to everyone and people were seen everywhere. Municipal Brigade of the Valls City Council who are the ones who prepare the entire city and all the requirements needed for everything to go well, had to fight against a rainy Saturday (it didn't let us do part of the party) and a Sunday when the city welcomed thousands of people again. God forbid! Here it is time to call the work of the Valls Local Police, of the Police i Civil Protection. Thank you for being there and for doing your job well. You know: you are our peace of mind.
And to finish the list, we would like to thank the restaurants around the area that have welcomed thousands of people to have the calçotada, the businesses that have been open to serve visitors, and the different entities and institutions that in one way or another are involved in the festival, as well as the media that echo it with their local, national and international media coverage.
We could make it longer and thank the sponsors, Fruit Sauces, Europastry i Domenico (which costs them a lot of money!) to the entities that support it and to’Valls City Council and to the administrations that take care of them. It must be said. But, the The Calçotada Festival is great We make it Great among all of us and, from the Andreu Group, we think that no more personalisms are needed than a sincere thank you and a big hug to each one of those who collaborate: a great pineapple capable of doing very great things.
Congratulations, and thank you.
